LABOR DAY AT COOK FOREST

For those who know us, they know it is our habit (for the past several years) to do a motor-cycle camping trip in western PA on Labor Day weekend. Cook Forest State Park has become our campground of choice because we usually have our friend Russ from Ohio meet us there. This year we also had Ken and Gerry Geib to join us. Plans were made, weather forecast was excellent, and everyone was excited. BUT plans were meant to be changed and fortunately the crowd we run with has learned to “go with the flow”. A last minute cancellation by our friend Russ and a last minute problem for Clyde meant the Geibs were heading to Cook Forest by themselves on Friday afternoon. BUT (another change) Clyde and Geanne were not going to let a late start spoil a great weekend of camping. We finished packing in the AM and joined Ken & Gerry at site 91 on Saturday afternoon. After all, Ken and Gerry had a bunch of breakfast items to eat and no dinners with them, so we had to show up with the dinners (it was in that “plan”). I just want it to be known at this point that Clyde was the only person on this trip that had zero participation in any of the numerous cooking incidents (ask Ken, Gerry, & Geanne for more details). We had a great weekend of game playing, hiking, sitting around the campfire, watching Mr. Biscuit (Ken’s chipmunk) and cycle rides. Speaking of games, Gerry taught Geanne and I a new card game. It was called Habbersnofueouworueoiurier (or something like that), but I just called it Pumpernickel (don’t try to understand me, you will hurt yourself). It was similar to a game Geanne had played before, but I was a complete novice. Well either I had beginner’s luck, was a fast learner, or Gerry played well enough to drag me along, but let’s just say Ken & Geanne will be coming at us for a rematch soon. Gerry, we had better let them win next time… remember how Geanne tore the handle off her coffee cup???? Another great Labor Day camping trip made even better by some great friends.
