PA CHAPTER “A” WALKS ON WATER!

PA CHAPTER “A” WALKS ON WATER!

On the weekend of February 19th, three couples from PA Chapter “A”, the Geibs, Yohns and Pughs, decide to go to Lake George, NY for Winter Fest.  Each weekend in February the town celebrates winter.  There are different events each weekend on the lake.  All six of us braved the cold to watch motorcycle racing on the ice.  Yes, we all walked on the water.  Of course the part we walked on was 22 inches thick!  Also on the ice were four-wheel ATV’s racing and a snowmobile water-skip.  It was pretty neat to watch these courageous participants screaming around this oval.  Looked like they were having fun also.  It was hard to believe we walked about ¾ of a mile on the lake and no one fell.  Must be we took lessons from Ken and Gerry.  At first when I saw them holding hands I thought they were being romantic, but I learned they were just holding each other up.  Well, it worked for all of us.  The town looked far different in February than it does in June for Americade.  Instead of thousands of people there were hundreds.  A few restaurants and motels open only on weekends for Winter Fest.  When we were not watching the festivities we were hiking in the Adirondack Mountains hunting for geocaches.  This turned out to be fun.  Six adults running around hunting for a hidden box.  Evenings were spent doing what we do best – eating.  Saturday night we ate at a restaurant right on the waterfront, with lots of glass.  From there we were able to watch the fireworks on the ice.  Pretty neat.  Oh yes, we can’t forget Ken’s marble game.  Every chance we had we were playing this game.  For lack of anything else to call this game, I will call it “cutthroat”, because that is what they became.  I saw and heard things that my eyes and ears did not believe.  This friendly bunch of people was transformed into ravenous monsters that would do anything to win!  At one point my life was actually threatened if I moved a certain marble!  One other thing I noticed about Chapter “A”.  We are not just bikers, we are friends and always find plenty of things to laugh about.  They say laughter is good for the soul.  Well, this weekend was good for my soul.  A good time was had by all.  P.S.  Ask Ken about the “dog box.”
