VISIT TO OAK LEAF MANOR NORTH

VISIT TO OAK LEAF MANOR NORTH

Reprinted from PA Chapter “A” Newsletter

After Sunday’s meeting, seven bikes made their way to Oak Leaf Manor to visit the residents.  Dawn met us as we lined the bikes up in front of the double doors.  There were quite a few residents who came to see “these shiny bikes.”  Dawn had posted our visit in the bulletin board and the residents were anxious to meet us.

After Dawn introduced us, we greeted the residents and introduced ourselves.  Each of us partnered with a resident and walked or wheeled their chair closer to the bikes.  They asked a lot of questions as we showed them different parts of the bike and what they were used for.  They especially enjoyed seeing Denny and Bette’s trailer.

Later, Dawn took us on a tour of the facility.  It was beautiful.  She also introduced us to Cocoa, a pet rabbit.  He had a bag of grass (Sue) for his girlfriend and of course, there was quite a story to go along with that!  Little Cocoa follows Dawn around like a little puppy and is not shy at sharing his affection with her.  Lots of kisses and snuggles!

All of us thoroughly enjoyed the visit.  To see Dawn at work was a real treat.  It was quite plain for all of us that she thoroughly loves her job as Director of Activities.  She certainly keeps the residents entertained with her sunny disposition, laughter, and true friendship.  She is perfect for the job and the job is perfect for her!

Thank you Dawn for arranging our visit and Blaine for leading the way!
