A THANK YOU FROM THE RAMSEY’S

Having just returned from Chapter B’s very first Progressive Dinner ride, I feel compelled to let you know what a wonderful happening this was.

Donnie Freeman, our Road Captain for the month of May, and his wife Lucille, had this idea that we might visit certain people’s homes and partake of different courses of a meal.  We knew that Chapter A had done this before but this was our first try.  And my, what a success.

After meeting at Bowl-a-rama on 422 we set out for our appetizer course led by Don and Lucille.  Our hosts for the appetizers were Dave and Doris Seidel.  They put out some delicious water chestnuts wrapped in bacon and baked to perfection.  There were also onion rings, fruit, veggies and dip, orange juice and iced tea.  Dave and Doris’s good friend Sandy Hoppes saw to it that no one fell short.

Our next stop was for soup and for that we visited Ken and Sandy Miller’s home.  We had our choice of four different kinds of soup.  There was broccoli cheddar, potato cheese, rice soup, and strawberry soup (cold).  I had my favorite, broccoli cheese, but I understand that they well all delicious.  Of course we had iced tea and lemonade, sodas and water to compliment the rest.

Our third stop was for salad at George and Kim Mertz’s home.  Now there are salads and then there are SALADS.  Well with every kind of fixing you could want along with all kinds of dressing, bread, drinks, including coffee, this was another (full-filling) stop.

The next stop on this feeding frenzy was at our Road Captain Don and Lucille Freeman’s home.  We know from previous parties that they throw (i.e. Halloween especially), that there will be mucho food.  This was the main course.  Five, count them five, different kinds of Lasagna.  There was broccoli cheese, vegetable, chicken cheese, bacon and hamburger, and Mexican lasagna.  They also had green beans and Texas Toast, along with of course various drinks.  What a meal.  Have I made you hungry yet?

Well this should top it all off.  Mike and Phyllis Rohrbach saw to it that all the delicious food we had was complimented with some scrumptious desserts.  They had strawberry pies, apple pies, brownies, strawberry angle food cake, cool whip and even ice cream and assorted drinks.

We like to kid sometimes that we ride to eat and eat to ride.  Well, it was true today.  We thank all our gracious hosts for treating us so well and hope to return the favor in the near future.
